Wednesday night MLS

2017 record: 17-17
Profit/loss: -3.16

With five MLS matches on the docket Wednesday evening, I simply can’t wait until the weekend to unleash my inner degen. There are too many losers winners to be picked.

Here are my Week 12 Wednesday night MLS plays:

Philadelphia Union/Houston Dynamo Draw +255
Risk 39.22 to win 100
Both clubs have been playing excellent soccer lately. Philly thrashed D.C. United 4-0 at RFK Stadium last weekend, while the Dynamo are riding a two-game winning streak. Look for Philly to win the possession battle and Houston to effectively counter. The contrast of styles could lead to an exciting, evenly played match, so a draw at better than +250 — generally my cutoff for considering a draw — appears to have some value here.

Sporting Kansas City -0.5 -130
Risk 65 to win 50
I’ve been rather impressed with what I’ve seen from SKC so far this season. Ilie Sanchez is an absolute boss in the center of the pitch. And SKC’s defense is so stout that a talent like Saad Abdul-Salaam can barely find minutes. The defending champion Sounders have shown signs of turning things around lately, but they’re not quite there yet. Of course, with a double this week both coaches might opt to rest some regulars so keep an eye on that — for all the Wednesday matches, not just this one.

New York City FC Pick ‘Em -110
Risk 55 to win 50
To be blunt, Real Salt Lake has looked like utter garbage lately. It’s a long travel for NYCFC, but take the deeper and better roster in this spot.

San Jose Earthquakes/Orlando City SC Draw +260
Risk 38.46 to win 100
The Quakes are a very dangerous side at home; they’re unbeaten in five matches at Avaya Stadium this season. Orlando, meanwhile, is tied for second in the Supporters’ Shield standings with a heap of other teams log jammed at 19 points. The draw makes sense here with San Jose boasting a -1 goal differential and Orlando sitting at 0. These clubs are very comparable talent and performance-wise, so why not back the draw at +260?

Note: The odds cited are based on the lines available at Bovada.lv at the time of posting.
