American goalkeeper Kelsey Dossey has inked a deal with Swiss top-flight club Football Femminile Lugano 1976, the women’s side under the FC Lugano banner, per a report from Indiana Soccer digital communication manager Gus Chikamba.

“I am very humbled and blessed to have signed my first professional contract with FF Lugano 1976 who competes in the top league in Switzerland and also Champions League, which is one of the most prestigious women’s leagues in the world,” Dossey told Indiana Soccer. “I couldn’t be more thankful for my family, all of my teammates along the way, my high school and club teams, Indiana ODP, and my college team for all of the years of preparation and dedication that allowed this dream of mine to become reality. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my family, friends, teammates, mentors, coaches and great leaders along the way who propelled me into this professional career.”

A product of the Indiana Olympic Development Program (ODP) who attended Avon High School just outside of Indianapolis, Dossey went on to experience a successful stint at the University of Missouri with 11 career clean sheets. She produced 80 saves her senior season and earned a spot on the All-SEC Second Team.

“This is just the beginning and I can’t wait to see where God continues to lead me and what’s in store for me on this new path,” Dossey added in her interview with Indiana Soccer. “Thank you again to all those who believed in and encouraged me along the way, each and every one of you never went unnoticed. God bless you all, and now go get your passports and come catch a game.”

FF Lugano 1976’s home grounds are at the stadio comunale di Cornaredo in Lugano, in the southernmost tip of Switzerland near the Italian border.

After displaying her adept skills in net throughout her amateur career, Dossey now gets the opportunity to test herself in the professional ranks for the first time — and in a European first division, at that.

FF Lugano will kick off its 2019-20 campaign soon, with preseason matches set for August.
