GM blog: Behind the Old Bhoys curtain, an introduction

Old Bhoys curtain

Hello. My name is Andy Hayes and I am the president and general manager for Old Bhoys Soccer Club. I have a soccer problem. “Hi, Andy.”

In the 2.5 months since Soc Takes graciously posted my “lessons learned” story about the hard reality of operating and running a true lower-tier soccer club, I’ve wanted to find a way to keep the transparency going. The intent of these series of posts is to do so, and provide a real-time look at the struggles or successes Old Bhoys Soccer Club has. At least two per month seems reasonable and about right in terms of frequency. Also, I welcome anyone who wants to lend a hand and help with this workspace or in growing our club.

The first challenge facing the club is continuing to grow sponsorship and potential revenue sources to offset league and operational costs. Again, no sign of a profit in our forecast, however we need to have a better financial season to ensure this effort is sustainable. That truth sucks, but until I am independently wealthy, that’s the way this works. Now, if any of you are independently wealthy and believe in what we’re doing to further the game of soccer in central Indiana, I’m down to talk!

League decisions, where we’ll play, etc., are other examples of things I plan on being as transparent as I can with this space. Kit reveal information, sponsorship agreements and other event-type things may not land here the day they are done, but we will play catch up on that.

In closing this, albeit brief, introduction, if there are any questions you have or you want me to walk through some things on a podcast platform, let KJ and the great guys at Soc Takes know, or give me a shout. Twitter links should get you where you need to go.

Looking forward to continuing the offseason and preparing the Old Bhoys for the 2019 campaign!
