After notching a brace on April 29 in his club’s 4-0 triumph against Boston City FC, New York Cosmos B striker Darwin Espinal took home NPSL National Player of the Week honors for Week 7 of the NPSL season.

The 23-year-old Honduran humbly deflected the personal achievement, choosing instead to credit the guys around him.

“I’m happy to receive this award, but I could not have done it without my teammates,” he said in the press release announcing the award.

“He was excellent for us and played a vital role in our victory,” said Cosmos B manager Carlos Mendes. “Well deserved and we hope for even more performances like this from him this season.”
